First of all…What is a landing page, and do I need one? A landing page can be part of your website or in this case, it can be separately created through your Mailchimp account. The sole purpose of a landing page is for viewers to follow the CTA. A Call to Action can have many purposes. In our example, it is to get more subscribers on your mailing list. If you would like to grow your list and expand your reach, a landing page is a great way to do it.
10 Trigger Ideas For Your CTA’s
Here are just some examples of how you can encourage people to sign up for your mailing list.
1. Free checklist
2. Grab free tips
3. Get a discount code
4. Get more time
5. Learn more
6. Register for an event
7. Free consultation
8. Game to win
9. Free trials
10. Subscribe to podcast/newsletter
The principal is always the same. You give them something for free or at a discounted rate and the offer is so tempting that they simply can’t resist and subscribe.
Follow These Steps to Create Your Own Landing Page
Step 1:
You can either create your landing page through the Create Button or the Campaign link. Simply click on create new landing page. You will then be asked to name the page and choose your audience. The subscribers will be added to the chosen audience/list.
Tip: Don’t worry if you are unsure about the name or the audience at this stage, you will be able to amend it later.
Step 2:
Now it’s time to select a template that suits your purpose. If you are not very savvy with creating things, I recommend using the template called ‘Grow Your List’. It’s easy to amend and fulfils the purpose. The other templates are also great but need some more tech skills if you need to make a lot of changes.
If you have created a newsletter with Mailchimp before, creating a landing page will be a breeze. The menu is the same and easy to navigate through.
I know this may sound obvious but remember that the main goal is for people to subscribe. So, make sure the Call To Action stands out and is easy to find. Mailchimp gives you the option to request all sorts of info from your subscribers with your CTA. However, the less you ask the more subscribers you will get. Once you have designed your page, click on save & exit.
Note: In some templates, it is hard to recreate the sign-up form or CTA, so I recommend duplicating it before making changes.
Step 3:
You are now given to make the last changes to your page title, URL and your audience.
The great thing is that you can tag people who subscribe via the landing page. This can be very helpful if you wish to send them targeted email campaigns.
Step 4:
Time to Publish. Don’t fret! No one knows about your landing page until you share it. Before sharing it though I would recommend previewing it and testing it yourself via the link provided. Sign up with your email address and see if you get what you’ve subscribed for!
Once you’ve done that, it’s time to share your work with the world and get those leads on your list. You can share your landing page on social media, the URL link provided or the QR code.
