Why Your LinkedIn Company Page Is Not Enough

A well-managed LinkedIn company page is an important part of your businesses online presence.

It gives potential clients somewhere to understand what you do, see your expertise, meet your team and review evidence of your work.

But your company page cannot carry your entire LinkedIn strategy.

LinkedIn is a professional network built around people. Your clients may engage with your business, but they want to know who is behind it. They want to understand how you think, what you care about and whether they can trust you.

That is where personal LinkedIn profiles become valuable.

People want to hear from people

Think about how you use LinkedIn yourself.

You probably notice a useful opinion from a business owner, a story from someone in your network or a practical insight from an industry expert.

You are getting to know the person behind the business.

This is particularly relevant in B2B marketing, where purchasing decisions often involve significant money, longer sales cycles and an ongoing working relationship.

Before someone books a meeting, they usually want to feel confident that you understand their situation. They also want to know that you are credible, reliable and someone they would feel comfortable working with.

Your personal LinkedIn content can start building that confidence before the first conversation happens.

The sales psychology behind personal profiles

Trust rarely develops from one post.

It grows when people see your name regularly, recognise your expertise and become familiar with your point of view.

Several sales psychology principles are working here.

Consistency builds familiarity. Sharing useful knowledge demonstrates authority. Client stories provide social proof. Personal experiences allow people to relate to you and your values.

Together, these signals help reduce some of the uncertainty that potential clients may feel before contacting your business.

This does not mean sharing every detail of your life or turning your LinkedIn profile into a personal diary. It means giving your audience enough insight to understand who you are, how you work and what you know.

What your company page should communicate

Your company page still has an important role.

It should clearly communicate your services, expertise and positioning. It can feature case studies, company news, team updates, client outcomes, educational content and examples of your work.

It creates a consistent and professional foundation for the business.

The people within the business can then bring further context to those topics through their personal profiles.

For example, the company page might publish a case study about a successful project. The director could share what made the project meaningful. A team member could explain one of the challenges they solved. A sales representative could discuss the client problem that prompted the work.

The message remains aligned, but each person contributes their own knowledge and perspective.

Reposting company content is not enough

One common mistake is asking employees to repost company content without adding anything to it.

A repost may extend the distribution, but it gives the reader very little reason to engage.

Encourage people to add a short perspective instead.

They could explain why the topic matters, share something they learned or identify the part that clients frequently ask about.

Even two or three genuine sentences can make the content feel more relevant and personal.

Who should post from their personal profile

You do not need every employee to become a content creator.

Start with the people who already have knowledge, client relationships or a visible role within the business.

This may include the founder, managing director, sales team, consultants, account managers and technical specialists.

Each person can have a clear focus.

The founder might share the business vision and lessons from leadership. A specialist can answer technical questions. An account manager can discuss client experiences and common challenges. A sales leader can share insights into what buyers are asking for.

The content should reflect their real experience. It should not look like the same company post has been copied across five personal profiles.

A simple system makes this manageable

Creating content for company and personal profiles does not need to become another major task for your team.

Start with several core topics each month. Use them to create the company content, then identify which team members have useful experiences or opinions connected to those topics.

A short monthly interview can often provide enough material for several personal posts. Your marketing team can draft the content, while each person reviews it and adds any details that make it sound like them.

Regular engagement also matters. Spending a small amount of time responding to comments and contributing to relevant conversations helps people stay visible between posts.

The goal is not to have everyone on LinkedIn for hours. The goal is to create a structured process that the team can maintain.

Your business needs both

Your company page gives your brand a professional home.

Your personal profiles help people recognise and trust the expertise behind it.

When they work together, your business can build visibility across more relevant networks, strengthen credibility and create warmer sales conversations.

If your company page is active but LinkedIn still feels quiet, the answer may not be more company posts. It may be time to involve the right people within your business.

At B Thriven, we help B2B businesses manage their company content, develop personal LinkedIn profiles and maintain consistent engagement without adding hours of marketing work to the team’s schedule.
