5 Steps To Growing Your Business With LinkedIn
LinkedIn is one of the best ways of growing your B2B business. However, I have also seen some B2C businesses succeed in gaining customers on LinkedIn. In this blog, we will unfold how to maximise LinkedIn’s power.
1. Ensure your profile is up to date
Particularly when you are just starting out with LinkedIn as a business owner it’s important to check that your profile is still up to date. Here are some key things that should be complete and up to date.
- Picture & Banner
- Headline Text
- Contact Details
- About Text
- Skills Section
If you need help with this, I am happy to bring your profile up to scratch.
2. Expanding your network consistently
Once a month I search for new connections that could be of value to me and I simply connect with them. To keep things simple, I don’t send a message with the connection request. In my experience, most people accept it anyway. The goal here is to get in front of relevant prospects and to show them that you exist. If they are interested, they will check out your profile.
3. Post valuable content
One of the key things is to be consistent with posting your content. It’s important to decide on the frequency. If you are just getting started, I recommend starting with one post a week, always on a specific day. This keeps it simple and manageable.
If you are struggling to find content, start writing down the FAQs you receive from your clients or use Answer the Public.
Note: The idea is to showcase your knowledge and attract potential prospects.
4. Engage with other people’s content
Whilst you enjoy receiving likes, comments and shares on your posts other people enjoy it too. Engaging in other people’s content is a key part of your strategy for following reasons.
- LinkedIn rewards your activeness with its algorithm
- People notice you and start engaging with your posts
- It gives you inspiration and ideas for future posts
5. Reach out
Once you’ve followed all the below steps consistently for a few months, it’s time to reach out to some of those prospects that have accepted your connection request. Keep this simple but personable. Key things are:
- Greet them by their first name
- Acknowledge interest in their profile and their achievements
- Offer value to them
- Case study
- Special offer
- Etc.
- Ask them if they are interested in a catch-up
Note: This is up to you, but I personally don’t like it when people reach out multiple times. If they have not responded to your first message, do a quick follow-up message and then leave it at that.
In a nutshell, it is important to be consistently, share engaging content, engage with other people’s posts and expand your network wisely.
